and Geophysics |
| Survey and research of marine geology and geophysics are important fields of institute. Its general goal is to study submarine geological structure, material composition, resources and related variation of environments, through obtaining the data of marine geology and geophysics, geochemical, using hi-technologic instruments and integrated survey techniques. Its recent study includes submarine survey and system integration, submarine information and data process, and coastal process and management. Through the implementation of a number of comprehensive survey and study on the East and South China Seas, the islands and coastal zones and international cooperation projects, the topography, geomorphology, sedimentation, geological structure and its formation and evolution of the marginal seas around China were studies systematically, and a series of various geologic and geophysics maps have been published, being the basis for the decision of national key projects and basic data for theoretical research. New viewpoints were raised in the study of the characteristics and evolution of the crust Okinawa Trough crust and its south-north structural difference, and the terrain system of the South China Sea.
