Scientists of the Institute to the First Southern Ocean Expedition |
| Early in 1980s, scientists from the Institute were sent to participate in international cooperation of polar research. And since then we joined in all the Antarctic Expedition of our country and studies on marine physics, marine geology, marine chemistry, marine biology and sea ice were made and rich results were achieved. In 1999 scientists were sent to the First Arctic Expedition of our country and survey and study of physical oceanography, marine geology and marine chemistry was made. At present the key research points include Antarctic geochemical process, Antarctic sea ice and air-sea interaction, dynamic variation of Arctic Sea and sea ice and contribution of Antarctic and Arctic to the global change. |
