1987-2000年在中国地震局兰州地震研究所电磁研究室工作。2000-2002年在中国地震局地球物理研究所工作。2002-至今在国家海洋局第二海洋研究所、国家海洋局海底重点实验室工作。2006年评为中科院南海所博士生导师。

目前主要从事海底演化与动力过程的研究。利用天然地震观测资料和海底地震仪（OBS）勘测进行海洋地壳构造反演。并开展板块俯冲机制、理论地震图、地震层析成像、水合物的理论研究。
