Su Jilan Academician of CAS
Academician of CAS; physical oceanographer; doctor of University of California,Berkeley; academician of the Third World Academy of Sciences; foreign member of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. From the 1980s, Prof. Su Jilan has been engaged in researches of circulation dynamic oceanography in China’s coastal areas, systematically studied impact of Kuroshio Current on China’s coastal circulation. He presided over the seven-year-period “China-Japan cooperation research on Kuroshio”, co-presided over an important program of Natural Science Foundation of China--the sustainable effect of the Bohai Sea ecological dynamics and biological resources and served as scientific counselor of the ‘973’ National Programs of “the sustainable effect of ecological dynamics and biological resources in East China Sea and the Yellow Sea”, “the key physical process of red tide generating and vanishing in the red tide-frequent-occurrence area of China” and “the key process and sustainability mechanism of food production in China’s coastal ecology.Prof. Su Jilan now serves as Honorary Director General of SIO, researcher of the State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics, Honorary Presidents of Chinese Society of Oceanography and member of National ‘973’ Program Counselor Group.More -
Jin Xianglong Academician of CAE
Academician of CAE. Prof. Jin Xianglong who has long been engaged in submarine geology and research is one of the founders of China’s submarine geosciences. He took a lead in carrying out geophysical detection in Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea and East China Sea, systematically studied the tectonic framework and hydrocarbon potential of continental shallow sea as well as the crustal feature and evolution of Okinawa Trough.Professor Jin Xianglong also obtained important evidence about deep-sea crust's attribution in South China Sea and discovered manganese crust with cobalt and continental slope basin with hydrocarbon potential. In term of ocean mineral exploration and development, Prof. Jin Xianglong made major contributions in technological debate and obtained 150000 km2 of ideal mining area in the East Pacific Ocean for China and also made China the fifth pioneer investment country in international seabed in the world. In the meantime, Prof. Jin Xianglong undertook national key project “Exploration and Research of Ocean Polymetallic Mineral Resources”, thus making important contributions for China to be an internationally advanced country in ocean exploration and researches.Prof. Jin Xianglong is now doctoral supervisor for Institute of Oceanology of the CAS, Zhejiang University, China University of Geosciences both in Wuhan and in Beijing. He also serves as professor in Shandong University of Technology and Honorary Dean in College of Resources and Environmental Engineering.More -
Pan Delu Academician of CAE
Academician of CAE, expert in marine remote sensing and also the founder and pioneer in scientific and technological development of marine remote sensing in China.Prof. Pan Delu has made creative achievements in applying ocean color remote sensing to atmospheric correction and reflection pattern. Outstanding contributions have been made in the simulation theory and system establishment and application of remote sensing satellite, thus playing a fundamental and key role in establishing and developing scientific researches of ocean color remote sensing and remote sensing simulation science.Prof. Pan Delu is now a researcher of the State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics and also serves as chief editor of Acta of Oceanologica Sinica, vice president of Chinese Society of Oceanography, and member of International Ocean Color RemoteSensing Expert Group and also serves successively as chairman of International Conference on Asia-Pacific Remote Sensing.More -
Li Jiabiao Academician of CAE
Jiabiao Li is the Director of the Second Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Naturel Resources, China, and Vice- President of the Chinese Society for Oceanography. He is an Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and has long been engaged in the researches of submarine geosciences and engineering. He heads a series of Chinese National Science Programs which are focused on mid-ocean ridges, marginal seas, subduction zones and seabed mineral resources, and led many cruises in the Western Pacific, Southwest India Ridge and even Arctic Gakkel Ridge. Holding a BS Degree in Geology, MS Degree in Marine Geology and PhD in Marine Geophysics (resp. 1983, 1989 and 2001), he is the author of more than 80 scientific publications, 6 books, received 2 National Science and Technology Awards, supervised 12 PhD theses. He was a Co-chair of InterRidge (2013-2015), and a Member of the Site Characteristics Panel (2011-2013) and Science Evaluation Panel (2013-2016) of IODP. He is a founding chairman of ISO/TC8/SC13 Marine Technology (2014-), and also advisory members of the Geosciences Department of National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Ocean Sciences Department of Chinese Academy of Science.More -
Chen Dake Academician of CAS
Academician of CAS; physical oceanographer; doctor of Stony Brook University; the first group of National Special Expert of “Thousand Talents Program”; researcher of the State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics.Prof. Chen Dake has been engaged in basic researches of physical oceanography and has made important contributions in areas of offshore, ocean and climate researches. Systematic and creative contributions have been made in the predictability of El Nino and mechanism and effect of ocean mixing. He served twice as chief scientist of National‘973’ Program, presided over many important foundation programs and served as academic leader in innovation research group of National Natural Science Foundation of China.Prof. Chen Dake worked at many important international academic organizations and journals, served as committee member of department of geosciences of National Natural Science Foundation of China and the International Cooperation Expert Consultation Committee. He wrote multiple national-level strategic research reports independently or by working with other people and made substantial contributions to discipline construction and development of physical oceanography.More
