主要从事海洋沉积及环境演变的调查与研究工作。研究领域包括全球变化与人类活动背景下的现代沉积过程和陆海相互作用、深海沉积记录与第四纪环境变化等。
主持国家和省部级科研项目近10项，包括国家自然科学基金1项，国家专项项目5项等，多次担任国家专项项目航次首席科学家。
已在国内外学术刊物上发表研究论文30余篇，参与编写专著1部，授权发明专利2项，获海洋工程科学技术奖二等奖1项。
