From November 11 to 12, the 2022 Summit for Women Scientists hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology was held in Wenzhou. The SIO undertook the round-table conference and the Women’s Science and Technology Innovation Salon of the Summit. A number of women scientists participated in the activities to show the “female” power in marine science.

In the academic salon of “Female Power in Increasing Ocean Carbon Sink”, Researchers Bai Yan, Jin Haiyan from the SIO and seven other outstanding marine scientists from home and abroad made the invitation report together, and multi-dimensional and multi-scale discussions were conducted around the goal of “blue carbon”. As a new generation of marine researchers, doctoral student Wu Xueting and master student Guo Dongshan from the SIO won the first prize in the exhibition board report exchange activity.

At the round-table conference of the 2022 Summit for Women Scientists, Researcher Han Xiqiu, Associate Researcher Chen Shuangling from the SIO, and women scientists from Zhejiang University and Xiamen University shared their views on topics such as “increasing blue carbon sink”, “growth and success” and “social responsibility”. In the activity of “big hand holding little hand”, participating female scientists, together with Wenzhou children, visited the Wenzhou Children Friendly Park and the Mathematician Hall of Fame hand in hand, and jointly went to the “Mother River of Wenzhou” - Tanghe River, to carry out activities, and guided children to love science and protect the environment.

Leaders from China Association for Science and Technology, Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology, Zhejiang Women’s Federation, departments in Hangzhou City and Wenzhou City participated in this activity.
