SIO Conducted Marine-related Standard Formulation and Revision Training

On March 17, the Marine Survey, Observation and Monitoring Sub-technical Committee of National Marine Standardization Committee of SIO held a training conference on standard formulation and revision in a synchronized online and offline manner. More than 100 people from more than 20 marine-related units across China participated in this training.

In this training, Gao Xuemin, the Second-level Inspector of the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, made a report entitled “Standardization Helps High-quality Development of Marine Resources”, which introduced the general situation of natural resource standardization, described the new requirements of standardization work for supporting natural resource governance in the new era with the purpose to accelerate the scientific and technological innovation and governance capacity in the field of natural resources, and proposed the focus of natural resources standardization work in future in combination with “Development Outline of National Standardization”. Researcher Pang Zhenghu of China National Institute gave a training entitled “Drafting of Standard Documents”, which comprehensively and systematically introduced the drafting requirements of standard documents from aspects such as standardization’s objectives and principles, names and structures, writing of levels, writing and expression of elements, etc. Senior Engineer Wu Chunfang of the Secretariat made publicity and promotion from aspects such as standard formulation and revision’s process and requirements.

This training improved the participants’ understanding on the importance of standardization, strengthened their comprehension on drafting requirements of standard documents, standard formulation and revision process, etc., which certainly will play a positive role on improving preparation quality of marine standard for natural resources, enhancing management of formulation and revision of marine standard and accelerating the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into standards.
