Recently, the list of winners of the 18th “Huawei Cup” China Postgraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling in 2021 was announced. Wang Yishuo, a 2020 postgraduate jointly trained by SIO and Shanghai Jiaotong University, led the “Langdao” team to stand out from 17962 participating teams, won the Huawei Special Award (Top 10 in China) and the National First Prize for the Topic A “Low-Complexity Computation and Storage Modeling of Correlation Matrix Group”.
The National Post-Graduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling is an academic competition for postgraduates at school to conduct applied research in mathematical modeling. This time, by using the matrix theory, advanced algebra, some real variable function and functional analysis theories and binary tree theory, and combining his current scientific research work in the Second Institute of Oceanography (SIO), Wang Yishuo and his team, against the proposition, with programs such as MATLAB, PYTHON and JAVA, successively realized the modeling method, the clustering parent-child node algorithm, the random singular value decomposition algorithm, the Strassen algorithm, the improved Strassen algorithm, the improved Strassen algorithm based on Coppersmith-Winograd algorithm, and the dimensionality reduction block compression algorithm, showed that the underlying storage unit can be changed with the Huffman compression method to achieve lossless compression, and finally completed a modeling paper entitled “Computation and Storage Optimization of Correlation Matrix Based on Approximate Matrix Decomposition Probabilistic Algorithm”.
