The SIO signed a memorandum of understanding on friendly cooperation with the National Earthquake Observation Center of the Pakistan Meteorological Department

On March 22, the SIO signed a memorandum of understanding on friendly cooperation with the National Earthquake Observation Center of the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Beijing. Fang Yinxia, Director of the SIO, and Sahibzad Khan, Director General of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, attended the signing ceremony.
Zahid Rafi, Director of the National Earthquake Observation Center of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, said that the SIO is renowned in the fields of marine science and earth science, and expressed the wish to establish a long-term partnership with the SIO to jointly build a comprehensive field observation station and cooperate in disaster prevention and mitigation, climate change, resources and energy. Director Fang Yinxia stated that the signing of this memorandum of understanding is a good start for both sides to carry out scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation, and will provide a basis for both sides to continuously deepen cooperation and research. Joint construction of field observation station by both sides is mutually beneficial and reflects the long-lasting friendship between China and Pakistan.
In the future, the SIO will closely cooperate with the National Earthquake Observation Center of the Pakistan Meteorological Department in the fields of earth science development, climate change response, disaster prevention and reduction, integrated coastal zone management and marine environment protection, etc.
