On December 10, Professor Benu Kumar Dey, Vice President of the University of Chittagong in Bangladesh, and his delegation visited the SIO, and Director Fang Yinxia attended the meeting.

The University of Chittagong, located in Chittagong, Bangladesh, is one of the largest and oldest universities in Bangladesh. The SIO and the University of Chittagong signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in 2020. Under this agreement, the two sides collaborate on the application of high spatiotemporal resolution remote sensing monitoring and the construction of multi-disciplinary three-dimensional observation systems in the typical estuarine delta-mangrove-bay system, as well as on various aspects such as marine disaster prevention and mitigation and climate change response.

During the meeting, both sides discussed in depth the technical assistance for the application of high spatiotemporal resolution remote sensing monitoring and the construction of multi-disciplinary three-dimensional observation systems in the typical estuarine delta-mangrove-bay system on the east side of the Ganges River Delta. They also discussed the feasibility of cooperation in various aspects such as marine disaster prevention and mitigation, climate change response, and the regional international training center, and reached consensus on the cultivation of high-level marine talents through pragmatic international marine cooperation.
