Recently, a monograph “China Offshore Marine Geology”, led by Researcher Wu Ziyin of SIO and Researcher Wen Zhenhe of Qingdao Institute of Marine Geology, was published and distributed by China Science Publishing & Media Ltd. This monograph is a supporting academic achievement of “China Marine Geology Series”. Together with the atlas, they constitute a new model of combination of research-editing of China’s offshore marine geology.
       The monograph “China Offshore Marine Geology” has a total of 8 chapters of 900,000 words. The main content includes natural geographical features of China Sea and adjacent sea areas, characteristics and cause of formation of seabed topography, types and distribution of sediments, geophysical features such as gravity and magnetism, crustal structure, distribution characteristics and cause of formation of seabed mineral resources, evolution of sea geological structure and many other aspects. The monograph is based on the marine geology series maps with compilation proportional scale of 1: 3 million. It is completed through comprehensive analysis and in-depth research on a large number of collected domestic and overseas historical literatures. It is a new marine survey in our country for decades. This monograph is also the crystallization of results of years of research by more than 20 authors.
       The monograph comprehensively displays the basic characteristics of marine geology of China Sea with special emphasis on true expression and detailed description of original data. It systematically summarizes basic laws of marine geological evolution of China Sea. The monograph can provide basic data and reference for subsequent marine surveys and research. Also, it can be employed as a reference book for related marine industries.
