On September 15, SIO held opening ceremony for 2021 graduate students and education and training class for new recruits. The ceremony attendees included Zheng Yulong, Deputy Director of SIO, Wang Xiaobo, Secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection of SIO, Mei Xianjun, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee, Chen Jianfang, Deputy Director of SIO, leaders of various departments and laboratories (centers and colleges), graduate tutors as well as all freshmen and new recruits who joined SIO in 2021.

Chen Jianfang, Deputy Director of SIO, gave a welcome speech and introduced the development history of the institute and the basic situation of graduation cultivation. She ardently anticipated that students should follow the new era, adhere to the truth, come down to earth, orient to solve practical problems and shoulder the mission of building a maritime power in the new era.

Chen Shuangling, the representative of tutors, shared her tutoring experience with freshmen, encouraging them to establish plans and accumulate scientific research skills in order to achieve qualitative leap. Ge Shutong and Li Ran, the representatives of 2021 freshmen, gave their speeches respectively. They expressed that they will cherish the learning opportunities in SIO, make continuous efforts, live up to youth and achieve due results in their respective fields. All freshmen also gave a vivid self-introduction on the stage at the opening ceremony, and took a group photo with leaders.

After that, the new recruits received entrance education and training under the introduction of various departments of the institute. Combining with daily work, leaders of each department introduced responsibilities of the department and carried out policy announcements for the new recruits to provide them with guidance for future study and work.
