In order to welcome postgraduates of Grade 2021 and new recruits to work in SIO, increase the communication and exchange of new recruits, and create a good atmosphere of cooperation, SIO carried out the “Ocean, Hi Yang” new recruits’ quality development ice-breaking fusion activity at Lin’an base on September 6.
This ice-breaking fusion activity was divided into three stages: group formation, visit and competition, and the champion team with the highest personal and cooperative ability in a short period of time was finally assessed. Members of the eight teams introduced themselves briefly, and discussed the team name and slogan in line with the “team spirit” to display one by one. Two simple warm-up activities of “Ping-Pong Crossing the Bridge” and “Logical Sorting” gradually united team members and aroused each team’s desire to win. The curling competition in the afternoon was more exciting, and the champion of curling competition was finally decided through fierce competition. Shao Yan, Deputy Director of Postgraduate Education Center, awarded the prize to the champion team.
During their stay in Lin’an base, the new recruits visited the base under the leadership of the staff of the Science and Technology Support Center, and had an in-depth understanding of the functions of each laboratory. The advanced instruments and equipment stimulated the interest and enthusiasm of each team member in marine research. In the report hall of the base, the new recruits watched the latest propaganda film of SIO together. While feeling the series of achievements made by the Second Institute of Oceanography, they were determined to closely integrate their future research and study with the development of SIO.
