On July 7, the SIO grandly held the 2023 graduate graduation ceremony and master degree awarding ceremony. Director Fang Yinxia, Deputy Director Mei Xianjun, Chen Li, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, heads of various departments and laboratories (centers, institutes) and representatives of supervisors attended the ceremony. Relatives and friends of some graduates were also invited to attend the ceremony. 65 graduates successfully completed their studies at the SIO, set sail and embarked on a new life journey.

  The graduation ceremony began with the solemn national anthem. This year, a total of 65 people in the SIO were awarded master’s degrees. Director Fang Yinxia conferred degrees and certificates to each graduate and took photos with them. Xue Bin, Director of the Graduate Education Center, announced the list of winners of national scholarships, outstanding graduates of Zhejiang Province and the SIO, outstanding student cadres, outstanding master’s theses, and the first “Academic New Star”. Leaders of the SIO and supervisor representatives awarded honorary certificates to the commended students.

Director Fang Yinxia encouraged graduates to continue to forge ahead and pursue their dreams, closely connect their personal dreams with the needs of the country, become down-to-earth doers, maintain the thirst for knowledge, keep lifelong learning, keep up with the times, continuously inherit the spirit of the SIO, strive to build a maritime power and make achievements in the era of constant competition.

Zhao Jun, the representative of supervisors, gave a speech, hoping that graduates will continue to work hard to improve themselves on the road of life in the future and become the pride of the SIO. Wang Yuxin, the representative of graduates, expressed the sincere gratitude to the entire faculty and staff of the SIO, and expressed that they will remember the instruction of the SIO, apply what they have learned, and strive to be dreamers of the great ideal of the ocean career.

  The number of SCI/EI papers published by this year’s graduates as the first author exceeds half of the total number of graduates, among which the number of high-quality SCI Zone II papers and top journal papers published accounts for nearly one-third of the total number of graduates. A total of 17 people will continue their doctoral studies at renowned universities such as Peking University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and WESTLAKE University. The growth of various graduate training indicators is encouraging.
