On July 4, the delegation headed by Academician Jin Donghan, President of Tianjin University, visited the SIO for research, and had an in-depth discussion with the SIO on further cooperation. Director Fang Yinxia, Academician Li Jiabiao, and heads of various laboratories participated in the symposium. Department heads from the School of Civil Engineering, School of Marine Science and Technology, School of Mechanical Engineering, and Office of Science and Technology of Tianjin University participated in the research.
At the symposium, Vice President Wang Tianyou of Tianjin University introduced the general situation of Tianjin University, and emphatically introduced the technological innovation achievements of Tianjin University in fields such as deep-sea intelligent equipment and ocean engineering. Xu Xuewei, Director of the Science and Technology Department of the SIO, introduced the general situation of the SIO and the work carried out by the SIO on the exploration and development of deep-sea mineral resources. Both sides held a discussion on further deepening cooperation.
Director Fang Yinxia said that Tianjin University has a long history, profound heritage and powerful strength in marine equipment technology research and development, which can effectively complement the advantages of the SIO in marine scientific research. She looked forward to further cooperation between the two sides to jointly add strength to the cause of marine science and technology.
President Jin Donghan expressed that he will actively promote the all-round and in-depth cooperation between Tianjin University and the Second Institute of Oceanography, strengthen the joint training of postgraduate students and engineering masters and doctors, give full play to the advantages of Tianjin University, and deeply integrate equipment research and development with scientific research to form a distinctive marine development direction.
President Jin Donghan and his delegation also visited the Key Laboratory of Submarine Geosciences, MNR to gain a detailed understanding of the progress of exploration and research of marine mineral resources and the research and development of marine exploration equipment.
