On August 12, the SIO signed the Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) with the Faculty of Engineering, University of Gadjah Mada in Indonesia, and the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, CAS.

Director Fang Yinxia of the SIO, Director Li Chaolun of the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, CAS, and Dean Selo Sulistyo of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Gadjah Mada, respectively delivered speeches and signed the agreement. The three parties were full of confidence and expectation for future cooperation in geophysical exploration such as submarine earthquakes and marine geologic surveys.

The signing of this MTA is another important achievement of the National Key Research Program “Impact of the Convergence of the Pacific-Eurasia-India Plates on Earth’s Habitability” led by Researcher Ding Weiwei of the SIO, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in May this year, marking a substantial step forward of the project in carrying out international scientific research cooperation.
