Scientists from the SIO organized and participated in the 96th Executive Committee Series Activities of the World Federation of Scientific Workers

From August 12 to 17, the 96th Executive Committee Series Activities of the World Federation of Scientific Workers (WFSW) were successfully held in Beijing and Huzhou, Zhejiang Province. 33 WFSW representatives from 12 countries across four continents participated in the event. Scientists from the SIO organized and participated in this series of activities.

Han Xiqiu, member of the WFSW Executive Committee and researcher from the SIO, presided over roundtable interviews of the third meeting of the WFSW Executive Committee and the International Symposium on Green and Low-carbon Development and Scientists’ Responsibilities, participated in the launch of the green and low-carbon development initiative, and delivered a closing speech at the WFSW International Secretariat Meeting. Researcher Wang Yuntao from the SIO served as a guest interviewer at the International Symposium on Green and Low-carbon Development and Scientists’ Responsibilities, sharing the role of oceans in global climate change and green and low-carbon development.

WFSW, founded in 1946, is the first international organization that China Association for Science and Technology joined. This Executive Committee and International Scientific Symposium marked the return of WFSW to China for holding after 60 years, demonstrating China’s proactive stance in promoting global scientific and technological cooperation and the key contributions of Chinese scientists in deepening global science and technology dialogues.
