Recently, participants of the Seminar on Blue Economic Cooperation for Latin American, Caribbean and South Pacific Countries (hereinafter referred to as the Seminar) visited the SIO for exchanges. Experts from the SIO delivered a special lecture on the “Offshore and Coastal Zone Remote Sensing Analysis Service System” for the seminar.
Chen Li, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the SIO, attended the exchange event and delivered a welcome speech. He expressed that the SIO attaches great importance to international cooperation and exchanges and always upholds the concept of openness and cooperation, looking forward to conducting in-depth cooperation with the seminar participants and relevant countries to jointly promote the development of the blue economy and practice the marine community with a shared future for mankind.
The seminar participants visited the marine science and technology exhibition hall, the satellite ground station, and the State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics of the SIO. Through physical display and on-site explanation, they gained an intuitive understanding of advanced technology and observation equipment of marine scientific research. Associate Researcher Cao Wenting lectured on the “Offshore and Coastal Zone Remote Sensing Analysis Service System”, showcasing the latest achievements in building marine and coastal zone ecological environment and disaster monitoring capabilities for Pacific island countries based on the advantages of China’s marine satellite remote sensing technology. In addition, she demonstrated the “Pacific Island Offshore and Coastal Zone Remote Sensing Analysis Service System (PI-ReSOC)” on site.
The seminar participants expressed keen interest in such achievements as remote sensing monitoring country reports and marine disaster emergency monitoring reports, and carried out lively interactions and exchanges. Mr. Colin B. S.O’Keiffe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Social Transformation and Environment of Antigua and Barbuda, particularly expressed his high expectation for the application prospects of PI-ReSOC system in the Caribbean region, hoping that the promotion and application of this system would bring positive changes to marine ecological monitoring and environmental protection in the Caribbean region.
