Zhejiang Provincial Marine Big Data Value-added Application Center was inaugurated at the SIO.

On October 30, the Zhejiang Provincial Marine Big Data Value-added Application Center, jointly initiated by the SIO and the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Marine Economic Development, was inaugurated in Hangzhou. The center aims to connect and integrate various parties along the marine big data technology chain, value chain and value-added chain, explore more value-added application scenarios for marine big data, foster new models, new formats and new drivers for empowering the development of the marine economy industry, further accelerate the cultivation of new productive forces in the marine sector and better support the construction of Zhejiang as a strong marine province and the high-quality development of its marine economy.
The center will operate in a non-physical and open manner. Relying on the platform, technology and data advantages of the Second Institute of Oceanography (SIO), it will adopt an operational model of“Center Management Committee + Expert Advisory Committee”, and openly incorporate enterprises, universities and other forces from fields such as marine data, marine carbon sequestration, marine finance and marine insurance inside and outside Zhejiang Province. The center is dedicated to providing technical support for marine big data value-added applications, model innovation, system and standard construction, and jointly creating a technical support system and industrial ecosystem for marine big data value-added applications, ensuring that marine data resources are available, mobile, well-utilized and secure.
