On October 11-14, the delegation headed by Director Fang Yinxia visited Saudi Arabia to conduct academic exchanges with King Abdulaziz University and the Saudi Geological Survey, and they reached initial cooperation intentions in a series of fields. At King Abdulaziz University, the delegation headed by Director Fang Yinxia carried out the first academic exchange with the College of Oceanography, and visited the marine geology, physical oceanography, marine chemistry, marine ecology and other fields of laboratories of the college, to learn about its achievements and development directions in the field of marine science. The two sides agreed to further strengthen exchanges and promote work in relevant fields in the future. At the Saudi Geological Survey, the delegation headed by Director Fang Yinxia had exchanges and discussions with the Director of the Geological Survey and the Supervisor of the Marine Survey Project. The two sides reviewed the meeting in September this year and the progress of follow-up work. People including Researcher Ding Weiwei introduced the marine survey situation to the Saudi side and put forward relevant suggestions. Both sides were full of hope for further cooperation. This visit to Saudi Arabia is an important step to expand the international cooperation network of the SIO and lead China’s marine technology team to go abroad, providing important support for serving China’s “Belt and Road” initiative and Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030”.
