Research : He discovered seabed sulfide in the mid-ocean ridges of the world three oceans and served as technical director to apply for and explore seabed sulfide in the 10,000 km2 of the southeast Indian Ocean.

He is Director of the MNR Key Laboratory of Submarine Science, a PhD holder, Research Professor (Second-Class), doctoral supervisor, and the academic leader in high-resolution seafloor geomorphology.He has conducted research in high-resolution seafloor geomorphology for 24 years and has led more than 30 national projects, including key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the National 863 Program, and major programs on basic scientific and technological research.
