On November 9, the SIO carried out a series of activities such as fire safety training lectures, fire facilities experience, high-level evacuation drills and simulated fire fighting drills based on the theme of “focusing on fire safety and ensuring high-quality development” of the National Fire Day in this year.

In the fire training, the causes, conditions and impacts of various fires in China in recent years were combed and analyzed. The lecturer mainly taught the precautions for handling and escaping in case of fire and reporting fire alarm, so that every employee and student participating in the training deeply felt the ruthlessness of fire and the importance of fire safety. VR fire scene experience, knotting self-rescue experience, fire filter self-rescue respirator experience, air respirator experience and other experience links were also set at the training site. Through the immersive experience, the trainees had a deeper understanding and mastery of fire safety knowledge, the use of fire equipment and emergency treatment to fire disasters, enhanced the fire awareness and improved fire fighting skills.

After the training, the SIO conducted a high-rise fire evacuation drill. According to the drill plan, it is simulated that after the fire is found and the alarm is sounded, all personnel shall search for the nearest fire escape route according to their positions and escape orderly, and the fire fighting group, evacuation group, alert group and communication group shall perform their respective duties, check the scene and confirm the fire fighting and evacuation. The personnel of the working group performed their duties well, and the staff and students were evacuated quickly and orderly to a safe place at the first time. The drill achieved the expected goal and certain effect. In the subsequent simulated fire fighting drill, the participants mastered the use of various fire extinguishers through actual operation, and improved their ability to extinguish early fires.

The series of theme activities of the National Fire Day popularized the knowledge of fire safety to the staff and students of the SIO, improved the quality of fire safety and the social ability to withstand disasters, and strengthened the fire safety management of the SIO, creating a good atmosphere of “fire safety is the duty of everyone”.
