The 10th “Ocean Cup” Three-player Basketball Match of the SIO came to an end

In October, the 10th “Ocean Cup” Three-player Basketball Match, jointly organized by the Youth League Committee and the postgraduates’ union of the SIO, officially came to an end recently.

Six staff teams (State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics Team, Key Laboratory of Submarine Geosciences Team, Key Laboratory of Marine Ecosystem and Biogeochemistry Team, Island Organs United Team, Engineering Academy Team, Academy of Marine Sciences Team) and four postgraduate teams participated in the match. The match was divided into three groups for single round robin competition, and the link of shooting by female players was added in the midfield of each game. After five days of fierce competition, the Key Laboratory of Marine Ecosystem and Biogeochemistry Team and the Academy of Marine Sciences Team from staff teams won the the first and second place respectively, and Postgraduate Team 3 and Postgraduate Team 4 from postgraduate teams won the first and second place respectively; Wang Jiachong from the Academy of Marine Sciences won the men’s MVP of staff teams, Lu Shasha from the island center won the title of the best female player, and postgraduates Li Hongzhe and Huang Shuyi won the men’s MVP and the best female player of postgraduate teams respectively.

Yu Jian, Secretary of the Party Committee of the SIO, and Cai Jianna, Director of the Party Office of the SIO, presented awards to the champion and the runner-up respectively, Lei Jijiang, Secretary of the Youth League Committee, presented awards to the men’s MVP, and Xue Bin, Director of the Graduate Education Center, and Deputy Director Shao Yan presented awards to the best female player of staff teams and the best female player of postgraduate teams respectively.

This basketball match fully demonstrated the sportsmanship of cadres, staff and postgraduates from the SIO to strive for the best, never give up, treat friendship first and competition second, which enhanced the team cohesion. The participation of postgraduate teams also added vitality to the match.
