On October 24, the report-back meeting on the progress of China-Madagascar International Cooperation Voyage was held in the SIO. Representatives from the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Strategic Resources of Madagascar, the National Bureau of Mineral Resources and Strategic Planning, University of Antananarivo, the Ministry of Natural Resources and other relevant units attended the meeting to discuss and evaluate the phased achievements of China-Madagascar International Cooperation Voyage implemented by the SIO in 2021.

Fang Yinxia, Director of the SIO, delivered a welcoming speech, and Dr. Clodette, member of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf and the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Strategic Resources of Madagascar, thanked the SIO for the international cooperation voyage implemented by it. At the meeting, Dr. Tolojanahary of the National Bureau of Mineral Resources and Strategic Planning of Madagascar introduced the continental shelf program of Madagascar, and Researcher Tang Yong reported the progress and achievements of China-Madagascar International Cooperation Voyage.

In 2021, the SIO and the National Bureau of Mineral Resources and Strategic Planning of Madagascar jointly carried out the China-Madagascar International Cooperation Voyage, overcame many adverse effects such as bad sea conditions and international epidemics, and obtained more than 3300km of multi-channel seismic data at the continental margin of Madagascar. At present, with the cooperation of scientific and technological personnel from China and Madagascar, the processed multi-channel seismic data reflect the characteristics of high signal-to-noise ratio of survey lines, clear sedimentary basement cross-section, and obvious Moho reflection characteristics. The Madagascar side appreciated the voyage and the phased results of data processing and analysis.

At the meeting, an in-depth discussion was also conducted concerning the future cooperation between China and Madagascar.
