OnDecember 9, the Key Laboratory of MarineEcosystem Dynamics of the Ministry of Natural Resources was inaugurated and thefirst meeting of the first academic committee was held. The "KeyLaboratory of Marine Ecosystem Dynamics of the Ministry of Natural Resources"was officially inaugurated.

Thepredecessor of the Key Laboratory of Marine Ecosystem Dynamics of the Ministryof Natural Resources was the Key Laboratory of Marine Ecosystems andBiogeochemistry of the State Oceanography Bureau established in 2005. It rankedfirst among the ecological laboratories in the assessment of the Ministry ofNatural Resources in 2019 and its name was officially changed on January 7,2020.

Inrecent years, the laboratory hasformed the development feature that closely combines scientific research andtechnological research and development, and has made significant progress inthe development of polar marine biogeochemistry, ocean ecology andbiodiversity, coastal environment evolution and ecological effects; and havebeen significantly improved in marine ecology in-situ observation and samplingtechnology, ocean analysis and testing and biotechnology, and the developmentof marine standard materials.

ResearcherZeng Jiangning, the director of the laboratory, made a work report, introducing the laboratory positioning,research level and contribution, team building and talent training, opencommunication and operation management, and the future direction of thelaboratory in the new era. The academic committee reviewed the laboratoryreport and recommended that the laboratory further clarify its positioning, implementsustainable development strategies, highlight the advantageous direction,deepen the interdisciplinary, expand cooperation, and strive to build a keylaboratory with distinctive characteristics. The academic committee alsorecommended that the laboratory should strengthen the construction of thetalent team, focus on the cultivation of young talents, and stabilize the youngresearch team; strengthen the construction of laboratory infrastructure andimprove technical support capabilities.
