On March 15, the interim acceptance of the national key R&D program key project “Acoustic Detection Key Technology for Submersible Intelligent Networking”, presided over by Academician Li Jiabiao of the SIO, was completed.

At the meeting, Academician Li Jiabiao, the chief scientist of the project, reported on the progress of the project. The project was launched in 2022, and up to now, prototypes of submersible acoustic buoy and optical fiber three-dimensional composite array acoustic submersible buoy have been developed, possessing the ability to build the dynamic-static integrated marine seismic acoustic observation system. At the same time, the project team designed the underwater acoustic event recognition and ultra-remote positioning algorithm, which improved the recognition and recall rate and reduced the false alarm rate, realizing significant phased results. It can be used to build the seismic acoustic observation system with independent intellectual property rights, fill the gap in global ocean seismic observation, obtain the global-scale tomographic imaging, and clarify the multi-layered system of the Earth.

The review team consisting of Academician Du Jiangfeng from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academicians Jiang Xingwei, Xu Qing and Da Lianglong from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and other experts assessed the project results against the interim assessment indicators, believed that the project had completed all the interim assessment indicators, and agreed with the two key scientific issues of the deep earth structure and the positioning of major events in water of the project. The experts suggested that the project team should enrich the functions of seismic acoustic buoys, expand their application scope and get better results in subsequent work.
