On May 20, the SIO signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in marine and geosciences with Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia and the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Li Chaolun, Director of the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor IR, SELO, Dean of the School of Engineering at Gadjah Mada University made a speech through video at the signing ceremony, expressing high expectations for tripartite cooperation, and hoping to strengthen cooperation in the fields of comprehensive geophysical exploration such as underwater earthquakes and underwater electromagnetism and marine and geosciences in the future to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. Director Fang Yinxia stated that the signing of the memorandum of understanding was a good start for tripartite cooperation, providing a foundation for deepening cooperative research in areas such as joint observation and investigation, academic seminars and training, and sharing of data and materials.
The SIO will take this opportunity to carry out closer cooperation with with Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia and the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in marine science, geosciences, climate change, disaster prevention and mitigation and other fields.
